NOTES ON 1810 FAUQUIER CO., VA CENSUS

This is a very unusual circumstance for transcribing on this 
particular census.  The original microfilm for this census is
in such a poor condition that it is almost completely illegible.

While we do not know the date, a Mrs. Owen Crickard of Elkins, West 
Virginia did a 21 page transcription of this census when it was in a 
more legible state.

As close as I can possibly tell, Mrs. Crickard must have done this 
before the "computer age".  Some of the entries, while on the census, 
are in the incorrect order.  This indicates to me that she could not go 
back and "insert" the data in the proper place, but thanks to her, I 
have the names and the enumerations to compare and hopefully match with 
the microfilm as best as I possibly can.  

Mrs. Crickard did not have a database to enter this information, but 
rather typed 21 pages of continuous data.  Between Jim Burgess, Jan 
Carter and myself, we have attempted to reconstruct this into the pages 
that are shown on the actual microfilm.

Please DOUBLE CHECK any data on this before using it as "gospel" 
because as I said earlier, the microfilm was in an extremely faded 
condition.  If you dispute any of these entries, contact the census 
project and they will forward your e-mail to me and I will supply you 
with a copy of the actual census page to see if you can make it out any 
better than I.
