The prevailing diseases are intermitting, Billious & Lung feaver. The Cholera, though raging a few miles from our borders did not reach us. The water from wells is pretty generally impregnated with lime or magnesiai, rendering it "hard". That part of the county bordering on the lake is mostly prairie, interspersed with islands of timber. In the upper & lower portions are extensive ridges of lime stone farming almost inexhaustabl quarries of first rate cutting stones.
