Gladys Jeffers Kirk was like a grandma to me. Her husband James was office manager at the Aurora News-Register when I worked there in 1952-56. The Enumerator recorded the surname as Jefferies but it should be Jeffers. Information about the children of Merton L. and Mary E. (Hill) Jeffers Naomi Jeffers married Edward Jensen Gladys Ione (Jeffers) Kirk, the daughter of Merton and Mary (Hill) Jeffers, was born at Bayliss, Illinois, on September 28, 1904. On August 6, 1925, she was united in marriage to James Kirk, at Bethune, Colorado And died at Aurora, Nebraska, on August 22, 1994, at the age of 89 years, 10 months, and 24 days. Doris Jeffers married a Blackburn (Everett I believe) There is a Marie Jeffers missing from this family. Marie married June Smith and she recently (abt. 2004) died in Omaha at about 97. Freeda Jeffers married a Snoberger Donald Snoberger, age 96, formerly of Aurora, died Saturday morning, December 13, 2003, at Homestead Health Care in Lincoln. Donald E. Snoberger, the son of Harry and Edna (Clark) Snoberger, was born in Inland, Nebraska on December 7, 1907 and died in Lincoln, Nebraska on December 13, 2003, at the age of 96. Don was united in marriage to Freeda Jeffers on January 20, 1934 at Central City, Nebraska. =====================================================================================
