The land is prairie & barrens, soil of the prairie is heavey black sandy loam mixed with gravel. The barrens are a sandy loam, the county abounds in mineral springs, sulpher & iron, good water can be had any place by digging from 12 to 20 feet. Water hard. Iron ore is to be found in some parts of the county.
