Paulding, GA 1860 Federal Census http://ftp.us-census.org/pub/usgenweb/census/ga/paulding/1860/ ========================================================================================== DESCENDANT NOTE for Lewis Hagood / Haygood furnished by Nola (gr-gr-grand-daughter of Lewis ========================================================================================== Lewis Morgan Haygood was my gr-gr-grandfather. The 1850 Pickens, SC census, page 433B lists the following children for William Hagood (45, Blacksmith) and his wife Sarah (31) Martha (14), Emiline (9), Julia (7), Robert (5), Morgan (5), and James (6/12) Note: the 5-year-old twins Robert and Morgan, sometimes changed to using their middle names (Robert William Haygood and Lewis Morgan Haygood). Lewis Morgan & Robert William (twins), Martha, James, Emiline and Julia were children of William Robert Haygood b. 1805 SC (Hagood on 1850 Pickens Co SC Census) and Sarah (Melisie or Morgan and we aren't sure of her maiden name yet) b. 1808 VA. All children born in South Carolina according to census records. In the 1860 census, the twins (Lewis and William Hagood) are living in the household of M. B Hagood and his wife, Sarah. Even though the 1860 census shows the age of Lewis & William as 13, they were actually born in 1845 which would make them about 15 when this census was recorded. Their mother Sarah Haygood and sister Martha are in Fulton Co. City of Atlanta GA in 1860 and brother James was living in Pickens Co SC with the Elias Hendricks family. I couldn't find the other two girls Emiline & Julia, but I guess they could be in some other family or married. Sarah (M. B.'s wife) was widowed and remarried by 1870 as she shows up in 1870 married to Wm. Lane (on the 1870 census it says Wm. Love which is incorrect). In the 1880 census she is widowed and living with her son Charlie Lane. A fellow genealogist pointed out there was a Milton B. Haygood in 14th Reg. CO K GA Etowah's Guards mustered in 1860 from Bartow (Formerly Cass County) GA. This was North of Paulding. Enlisted 7/9/1861 surrendered Appomatoox VA 4/9/1865. M. B. (perhaps Milton) Haygood died after 1867 because he and Sarah had a child born 1867/8 named Robert E Lee Haygood who is 2-yrs-old in the 1870 census with Wm. Lane & Sarah UNK-Haygood-Lane. If you have any information on M. B. Haygood (poss. Milton Haygood b. abt. 1830-1831 SC) please let me know as this may be the one the twins were living with. He might be related to the twins father, William Haygood. Nola ==========================================================================================
