Lincoln County, GA 1840 Federal Census ==================== TRANSCRIBER'S NOTES ==================== The enumerator did not attempt to fill out all the info apparantly. That is true for most of the info following occupations. Also much of what is in that area is illegable. Much of the info on this census on the second page has marks like \ where the census taker used /. This is due to bleedthrough from the backside. It makes the info on the second page hard to read. Also the totals for each row and for the columns at the bottom I attempted to reconcile with the orginal but I gave up due to many discrepancies. I have used the totals to reconcile questions on some census' but there are just to many to work out on this one. It's worth mentioning that Micajah Henley the enumerator was an attorney in Lincoln County and likely had dealings with many of the families listed. That might indicate some obscure clues to mis-spellings both on the census and legal matters. ================================================================================================================ The following is the exact information on the headings for the 1840 census.
