Habersham, GA 1830 Federal Census http://ftp.us-census.org/pub/usgenweb/census/ga/habersham/1830/ ============================================================================= DESCENDANT'S NOTEs for Dorsey families of Habersham, GA from William C. Wade ============================================================================= The following information is meant for clarification: There were three brothers who moved to Habersham County, Georgia prior to 1830 namely, Andrew, Basil and Joshua Dorsey. From the actual images of the 1830 Habersham County Census [microfilm #M19-18] Enumerated 1st June, 1830 by Samuel Tate, the census taker was consistant in spelling their last names as Dorcy although his penmanship wasn't great. Andrew Dorsey and Basil Dorsey were still in Habersham in 1840 for they appear in the 1840 Census actual images [microfilm #M704-42] Enumerated June 1, 1840 by Singleton Sisk, where the census taker spelled the surname as Dorsey. Basil Dorsey appears as Bazzel Dorsey on page 146 line 6. Basil also went by Bazzel. From family history Joshua died August 04, 1841 but where is unknown. He is not listed in the 1840 Habersham census. He may have returned to Franklin County where the brothers came from or moved to Marion County, Alabama where Bazil moved to and is accounted for in the 1850 Census.
